Lakers.com: The Los Angeles Lakers have waived guard Thomas Kelati, it was announced on Wednesday.
Kelati, who signed with the Lakers as a free agent on September 30, played in five preseason games where he averaged 1.6 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.2 minutes.
Kelati, a 6-5 guard out of Washington State, spent last season playing for Unicaja in Spain where he averaged 11.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 22.5 minutes.
Prior to his stint in Spain, Kelati played for BOT Turow Zgorzelec (Poland-DBL) for two seasons (2006-08) where he helped lead the team to consecutive Polish league finals appearances. As a member of Zorzelec, Kelati appeared in 77 games, averaging 15.4 points and 3.0 rebounds. Kelati started his professional career in Belgium in 2005, playing for Dexia Mons-Hainaut.
It seems like captain Jack has some major issues with Kobe. Knowing his past, and present with his unhappiness, this might be something to look at tonight in the preseason game as it could get testy and physical.
Inside The Warriors: Jackson took his beef with Kobe to a public level. I don’t think he’s ever been a fan of Kobe. Especially to an official street dude like Jax, Bryant isn’t going to get the benefit of the doubt. So if he really called Jax young fella (though they’re the same age), better believe Jax really didn’t like that. In essence, Jax got dissed by a suburbanite. On top of what he thought was some dirty play.
JACKSON: “I’m not going to bow down. I’m not a fan of Kobe. I’m not somebody who looks up to him. I’m a grown man myself. So when I go out there and play the game, I play the game. I feel like I’m just as good as him. I might not get the publicity or notoriety he gets, but I feel like I can play with anybody in the NBA any given night.”
Yes, you read that right. Jax said he’s as good as Kobe. See, that is machismo taking over. But he did qualify it. By the end of the quote, he was clearly saying that he feel like he can match-up with Kobe and even give him the business.
JACKSON: “I think everybody should feel like that. Everybody should be a competitor and I don’t back down from anybody. I’ve never been like that and I’m not going to start today. … It ain’t envy. I ain’t jealous of anybody. At the end of the day I’m still blessed to be in this game, taking care of my family. I think it’s just the fact that what’s fair is fair and I want to be treated fair as a man. Just like anybody else would.”
Certainly, Tuesday’s match-up with Kobe in Ontario should be pretty intense.
This is funny stuff. S-Jax is still jawin’ about Kobe.
NBA FanHouse:“I’m not going to bow down,” Jackson said. “I’m not a fan of Kobe. I’m not somebody who looks up to him. I’m a grown man myself. So when I go out there and play the game, I play the game. I feel like I’m just as good as him. I might not get the publicity or notoriety he gets, but I feel like I can play with anybody in the NBA any given night.
Today’s “Wow, I can’t believe I just heard that, let me go back and watch it again just to make sure” award unanimously goes to Lamar Odom. Seems like Candyman’s diligently done his basketball research this off-season, and he’s found the key to success… becoming a Pony. Ponies, candies, and Kardashian’s, gotta love LO.
ESPN: Rivers has already come out and said the Lakers are a better team, and were a better team last season, and Paul Pierce has already acknowledged that he will circle four games — the two against the Lakers (Jan. 31 at home and Feb. 18 on the road) and the two on the road against Cleveland (opening night, Oct. 27, and Sunday, March 14) as measuring stick nights by which the Celtics will learn whether they really are as good as they believe they are.
FoxSports: The Los Angeles Lakers have signed free agent guard Thomas Kelati. The deal was announced Wednesday.
Kelati spent last season playing for Unicaja in Spain, where he averaged 11.8 points and 1.9 rebounds in 22.5 minutes.
Before that, he played for two seasons in Poland, where he led his team to consecutive Polish League finals appearances. Kelati began his pro career in Belgium in 2005.
We’ve got some raw audio interviews from today Lakers media day. The vibe from El Segundo was great — obviously the Lamar Odom situation was a stand out, but that doesn’t begin to scratch the surface of all the storylines going into this upcoming season. Listen for yourself…

A lot of people knew Kobe put on a lot of basketball miles with the 08 Finals season to the Olympics and right back into last season all the way to the title. Here’s what he had to say on this summer and getting healthier!
LATimes: “I was perfectly healthy,” Bryant said at the Lakers’ media day Tuesday. “All I did was get healthier. It’s been a long time.”
Bryant, a notorious workaholic, said he stayed away from basketball for about “about a good month and a half to two months.”…
…”My legs feel rejuvenated,” Bryant said. “I feel like I’m in great shape. Nothing is nagging me, outside of the hand and fingers, stuff like that.”
Andrew Bynum talked about his knee injury from media day:
LATimes: “Everything is fine with the knee,” Bynum said Tuesday during the Lakers’ media at the team’s training facility. “The knee is 100%. I’ll have to wear a brace for the rest of my career.”
