Ron’s defense has been absolutely everything it was hyped up to be. He’s proven himself in big games and has played very superb defense all season. The question is, do you think it’s enough to win D.P.O.Y.?
Here is a look at his recent defensive efforts:
- A.Iguodala 5-15 ( 13 pts)
- S.Marion 5-11 (10 pts)
- R.Gay 7-17 (17 pts)
- P. Pierce 4-9 (11 pts)
- C. Maggete 4-13 ( 17 pts)
- C. Anthony 7-19 (21 pts) 8 to’s
- D. Granger 2-9 (9 pts) 4 to’s
Even ESPN has this to say (ranked #2 on their list):
ESPN: Ron Artest, Lakers: If you need proof of his work, hit play on the DVR and watch how he frustrated Carmelo Anthony on Sunday when the Lakers topped the Nuggets. (Last week: 3)

We all know Kobe Bryant will laugh at this if he reads it. But I ask the fans this — should Kobe sit out a few games and heal up his body. He’s in such great physical shape, but he is a bit banged up and last night against the Bobcats, he suffered another small injury; sprained ankle. In fact, Phil Jackson told us he was getting therapy the entire practice to see if he can play tomorrow night against Denver.
Bryant did not participate in practice, opting to spend the time “trying a variety of therapies on the ankle to see what will work for him,” according to Lakers coach Phil Jackson.
Perhaps Kobe should sit out a few and heal up for a game or two. Also, Melo is reportedly out tomorrow so maybe it would be good for Kobe to miss a few? The BIG picture is the post-season, afterall… Sound off.

This one is simple. Sound off…
- Should the Lakers make a trade?
- Should they pursue Bosh (Bynum would likely go out)
- Should they pursue Hinrich (Ammo+filler(s))

This is considered “impossible” by many, however, let’s discuss it anyways. Afterall, impossible is something that is not in Kobe Bryant’s definition vocabulary and would it REALLY surprise us if he reached this sacred milestone when it’s all said and done? Some already call Kobe the best offensive finisher, ever. He’s already closing in on 25,000 points (30 away) and the all time record is held by Kareem (38,387).
Could he do it? Sound off. Also, here is what Kobe himself said about it:
I don’t know how long I’ll play. I don’t know.

There has been much debate over who is the team of the decade. Recently Mark Stein of ESPN ranked the Spurs as the team of the decade. His reasoning?
ESPN: It’s not an easy trick to pick the Spurs here after they lost four of their five playoff showdowns with the Lakers in the 2000’s … but we’re doing it anyway.
Now, despite being a Lakers website, I want to hear your thoughts Lakers Nation!
Here are some things to think about…
- Lakers won 4 titles
- Spurs won 3
- We beat them 4 out of 5 times in the playoffs
- We defended a title, successfully, twice (including a 3-peat)
- Spurs never won back-2-back

We all know that the Jazz fans have made a name for themselves for showing no heart towards former players (ala Fisher), so I pose this question to you – do you think the Jazz fans will boo “Hot Rod” Hundley? He is filling in for Stu Lantz on the Lakers broadcast after Lantz’s wife is undergoing surgery in which he is aiding her.
Here is what Hot Rod said about going into Utah, tonight:
L.A.Times: “I’m kind of nervous about it,” he said of working Friday night’s game. “I haven’t done a lot of homework on this year’s team. Plus, we’ve got to go to Utah tomorrow. I’m going to go in with a coat over my face.”

This will be an interesting one.
With the news that the Memphis Grizzlies bought out Allen Iverson’s contract, it got us thinking…
We do have a lot here who criticize the Lakers PG play. Perhaps Iverson needs a better place to fit in (aka a Championship contending team). Either way, would the Lakers even look his way? Would the fans accept it?
So we’ll keep it short and simple and let you guys duke it out. Allen Iverson. Would you like to see the Lakers try to pick him up?
Welcome to this edition of the Nation Discussion. Remember, we’re talking about “discussion,” not “practice”.

It’s a known fact that the Suns are interested in Lamar Odom, as are the Spurs. The question is this, would you perform a S&T with Odom to receive Amare in return? As Eric Pincus explains, it would be the option… but would you do it?
Pincus’ Twitter: To follow up on th LAT Lamar thing – say Phx did really want him and would pay near $10 mil per – if you’re Mitch do you offer S&T? The part about phx making cap room? that would take major doing – nearly impossible – but S&T certainly an option if LA is willing.
Personally, I would NOT do it. I think Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza coming back is better for us than geting STAT. Additionally, I have my concerns about his health issues. Don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely something to ponder. But my questions to you, The Lakers Nation, are these — would you personally consider a S&T and do you think the Lakers should do it?

How many of you, potentially, wanted to see Boston in the finals?
I’ve talked to many people about this personally and I’ve been rooting for the Celtics. Is that me being selfish? Perhaps. Last year we were spoiled despite the hard loss for the Lakers fans’ side of things. I really wanted to see a rematch.
Now however, we will not see that… at least this year. For those that hated and discussed all the closeups on KG during their two series, TNT didn’t show any of Garnett except for late in the 4th when Paul Peirce left the game.
Here is a screen shot of the injured KG. No more trash talking, no more talking at all. As our own staff writer Jason Riley mentioned, “Weird. I didn’t know his mouth closed…” One way or another, love them or hate them, I feel pretty upset they lost… but won’t lose much sleep over it. At the end of the day, I want the NBA championship here in Los Angeles.
Are you prepared for LeBron and co.? Are we looking too far ahead? What are your thoughts?

So this series just turned into an intense rivalry. Blood, tech’s, ejections and flagrant fouls might do that for you. So let’s get it all out. We know what happened and I want to ask you guys about two different plays.
- Fisher’s thrusted shoulder into Scola
- Kobe’s alleged “elbow” on Artest
Do these cases warrant suspensions? Let’s remember Rondo’s two plays – slap to the head of Miller & the tossing of Hinrich into the sideline table. That being said, here are some videos and reactions from Fisher and Artest on both plays.
